How do I draw a freehand line on the pitch?
Draw freehand with the pen
- Open the board at /app.
- Click the Pen tool in the left toolbar (or press P).
- Pick a color from the swatches below the tools — Teal, Blue, Yellow, Red, White or Black.
- Click and drag on the pitch to draw. On a phone, touch and drag.
- Switch back to the Select tool (or press V) when you're done drawing so you don't draw by accident while moving players.
How do I draw a pass or run arrow?
Draw movement arrows (pass, run, dribble, shot)
- Open the board at /app.
- Click the Movement tool in the left toolbar (the arrow icon, or press A). A small dropdown mark shows it has options.
- A popover opens with seven arrow styles: Pass (solid), Run (dashed), Dribble (wavy), Shot (thick), Long Pass (double line), Lob / Cross (curved), and Block.
- Click the style you want.
- Press where the arrow should start, drag to where it should end, and let go (on a phone, touch and drag). The arrow takes the color picked in the toolbar.
How do I highlight a zone or circle an area of the pitch?
Mark a zone, area, text label or number badge
- Open the board at /app.
- For a rectangular zone, click the Zone tool (or press Z), then press on the pitch and drag out a rectangle.
- For a circular area, click the Area tool (or press O), then drag out a circle on the pitch.
- For a text label, click the Text tool (or press T), click on the pitch, type your note and press Enter.
- For a numbered marker (useful for a sequence of steps), click Number Badge, then click on the pitch to drop a numbered circle. Each click adds the next number.
- Pick a color from the swatches for any of these before you draw.
How do I select more than one item, or delete something I drew?
Select and delete items
- Open the board at /app and make sure the Select tool is active (or press V).
- Click a player to select them. A small bar appears above the player.
- Hold Shift or Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) while clicking to add more players to the selection. Drag any selected player and they all move together.
- Press Delete or Backspace to remove everything selected, or click Delete in the little bar above the player, or drag the selection onto the trash-can icon in the pitch corner. On a computer Ctrl+Z brings them back; a phone has no Undo, so delete with care.
- Press Escape to clear your selection without deleting anything.
Tips
- Drawings are not selected: remove one with the Eraser tool (press E, then click it) or drag it onto the trash can. There is no drag-a-box selection.
- A selected piece of equipment goes with Delete too.
How do I undo a mistake or clear the whole board?
Erase, undo, redo or clear everything
- Open the board at /app.
- To erase part of a drawing, click the Eraser tool (or press E), then click the line, zone, circle, text or number you want to remove. One click removes one thing; players and equipment are left alone.
- To undo your last change, click the Undo icon at the top of the page, or press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac). A phone's top bar has no Undo or Redo buttons.
- To redo something you undid, click Redo, or press Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z).
- To clear everything at once, click the trash-can icon in the pitch corner without dragging anything onto it. A menu opens with Clear drawings, Clear equipment, Clear players, and Clear all.
- Confirm the popup. On a computer, clearing can be undone with Ctrl+Z right after. A phone has no Undo, so check which Clear you pick.
What keyboard shortcuts does the board support?
Keyboard shortcuts
- Open the board at /app on a computer (shortcuts need a physical keyboard).
- Press V for the Select tool, P for Pen, A for Movement/arrows, Z for Zone, O for Area, T for Text, E for Eraser.
- Press Space to play or pause the animation, and the Left or Right arrow to jump between keyframes.
- Press Delete or Backspace to remove the selected item(s).
- Press Escape to close popovers and clear your selection.
- Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) to undo, and Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z) to redo.
- Shortcuts are ignored while you're typing in a text box, so they won't interfere with naming a player or plan.
