Animating a play
4 answers for this part of Tactico. Everything here lives on /app.
How do I animate players moving across the pitch?
Build an animation with keyframes
- Open the board at /app and click the Animate tab on the right panel. A timeline appears under the pitch, with one keyframe already on it: Start.
- Start is the board as it stood when the page opened (or when you loaded a plan). Move your players (and the ball) to where they should be next.
- Click + on the timeline bar (or + Add next to Keyframes in the panel) to capture that moment as a new keyframe.
- Repeat: move players, then add another keyframe, for as many steps as your play needs.
- Each keyframe appears in the Keyframes list and as a marker on the timeline. Click the cross next to one in the list to delete it.
Tips
- The Keyframe spacing box sets how far apart new keyframes land (1.5s unless you change it): use 0.5s for a quick one-two, or 3 to 5s for a slow build-up. Keyframes you have already added keep their times.
How do I play my animation back?
Play, speed up, slow down or loop your animation
- Open the board at /app and go to the Animate tab. Playing needs at least two keyframes.
- Click Play (in the panel, or on the timeline bar under the pitch), or press Space, to watch your sequence. Click it again to pause.
- On the timeline, the arrows beside Play jump to the previous or next keyframe. In the panel, Skip to start and Skip to end jump to the very start or end.
- Change the Speed box (0.25x up to 4x) to watch it slower or faster.
- Turn Loop on or off with its toggle switch so playback repeats automatically or stops at the end.
- Change Default easing (Linear, Ease in, Ease out, Ease in-out, and cubic variants) to control how movement speeds up and slows down. It only applies to keyframes you add after changing it.
- Drag the playhead along the timeline bar under the pitch to scrub to any moment.
Tips
- Without an account, and on the free plan, your first play uses up your one free animation on this device. You can replay and edit it as much as you like; a brand-new one after that needs Pro (or an account).
Are there any pre-built animations I can start from?
Use a ready-made animation preset
- Open the board at /app and click the Animate tab.
- Scroll to the Presets section.
- Choose High Press (home shifts forward to press the opposition), Counter Attack (win the ball deep, break toward goal), Low Block (drop deep and compact), or Wing Overload (flood the right flank).
- Click a preset to load it. It builds the play from where your players stand now and replaces the keyframes you had, so save your own animation as a plan first if you want to keep it.
- Press Play to watch it, then edit the keyframes to fit your own team.
How do I export my animation as a video?
Record and export an animation as a video
- Open the board at /app, build an animation with at least two keyframes, and go to the Animate tab.
- Under Record, choose a Format: WebM or MP4. GIF is not available yet and is saved as WebM.
- Choose a Quality: High, Medium, or Low. If you plan to share it, MP4 + Medium plays on any phone; WebM will not play on an iPhone.
- Turn on Microphone if you want to record a voiceover. Your browser asks for permission when the recording starts.
- For a finished video, click Export Animation: it plays your animation once from the start and downloads the file.
- Or click Start Recording to capture the pitch live: press Play yourself, then click Stop Recording to download it.
- Export PNG saves a single frame as a picture instead. It needs no account and never uses up your video export.
Tips
- Free and signed-out coaches get one video export on a device. Start Recording uses it the moment it starts, even before you press Play.
